How to: Get Beachy Waves On Short Hair And Protect Hair Against Heat
What you will need:
Curling Wand (Paul Mitchell)
4 Blow Dry Hair Clips
Wide Tooth Comb
amika- Blockade (Heat Defense Serum)
amika- Un.done (volume and matte texture spray)
Start off with straight hair. Most of the timeI like the ends to be a bit more straight than curled to achieve an undone beachy wave look.
Beachy Waves Using a Wand
I chose to go with the middle barrel that’s in the pic below which is the medium size barrel. This 3 in one wand is amazing because you can get different size curls, and Paul Mitchell also has other barrels to interchange which is awesome!
Next, make sure your wand is plugged in and the heat setting is no higher than 400 degrees for coarse hair and for medium hair, or double processed hair the heat setting should be around 360 degrees, to prevent damage. You want to make sure you’re not frying your hair…no one wants to smell like burnt hair trust me!
Next, determine what kind of part you want, I prefer a middle part for this look. Now, clip away in 4 sections.
Foundation Is key!
The phrase “foundation is key” is totally true when doing almost any hairstyle, preparation is one of the most important steps to ensure the best style.
As you can see above I have parted my hair in four different sections with about one and one-half inches of hair left out.
When doing this specific hairstyle I take pretty big sections, because, I like this style to be loose curls and not very tight. Keep your sections about 2 inches wide.
Next, wrap your hair going AWAY from your face, same goes for your right and left side. When wrapping hair leave about one and one-half inches out, from the bottom of your hair strand so the ends look more straight.
Hold hair on the wand 4-5 seconds.
Remove the wand and pull hair taught for about 5 seconds to loosen the curl just how we want it!
.
Follow this process going all the way up your head and continue to curl away from your face.
This is how I achieve How to: Get Beachy Waves On Short Hair And Protect Hair Against Heat. Let me know if this was helpful in the comments below. And I will have many more “how to” hair posts to come!
