Top 5 Tips to Become a Better Beauty Shopper

#1 Are your current beauty products working for you? or against you?

Knowing if your products are working for you, or against you will help determine your shopping needs. Have you ever tried out a product for a while and realized that it’s not what you thought it would be? If you know that the facial wash, foundation, or even your fav hair product is no longer working for you, its time to switch it up and start asking yourself what are my beauty needs? 

#2 What do I have? What do I need? What do I want?

Majority of the time I ask myself the question “what do I have? Vs. what do I need?”, and that’s where I tend to start. It’s so easy for us to go into a beauty store and pick up a bunch of products that we don’t necessarily need. Asking yourself these questions will allow you to be prepared and actually pick up exactly what you need while saving you from compulsive shopping. Once you have what you need you can then go onto, what you want? If I see something that can be valuable to my collection I do the most research, swatching, and get as many samples I can. This brings me to my next tip, research!

#3 The importance of research and swatching!

Doing your research can make a world of difference when choosing the right products for you. There is so much accessible on the internet for you to really get a good understanding of different products and seeing how they work for others. There are tons of makeup, skincare, hair reviews that can help aid you in the right direction when it comes to almost anything you may have questions about. Next time you take a trip to a beauty store, do as much research before you start shopping. If not, there is nothing wrong with pulling out your phone and researching in the store.

• Research the pros and cons
  •  if the good outweighs the bad, and you like what you see go for it!

Have you ever bought something and felt uneasy about the purchase because you rushed into it? Luckily, most stores allow you to return and that is always a bonus. But, taking the time out to do your research is a great way to give you a confidence boost, and save you alot of time. Taking these steps will also help you save money, and make sure your purchases are worth it. This brings me to my next tip saving money!

#4 Skipping on brand names and checking out Dupes!

Purchasing products can be a real headache, especially if you’re spending a fortune on one product. The question to ask yourself is, does a higher price tag mean better quality? Dupes or cheaper products that compare to expensive products can be just as good as the “real” thing! It all goes back to tip #2, doing your research! There are tons of articles of great product dupes that the best beauty bloggers love. Your fav high-end products may not always fit in your budget, and I know how it is when your dying to have a specific product apart of your collection. Dupes can be a great way to spend fewer coins, and can also be a product that is worth every penny.

#5 Save money when you can! Budget!

Signing up for promotions at your fav stores will help with staying on top of percentage discounts, dollars off, BOGO deals, online sales, and many other benefits for the best time to purchase some of your fav products. Keeping an eye out on sales or discounts that are worthy, is a smart way to save. Occasionally shopping online can be a great way to see/get discounts. The only downside is having to wait and not being able to test your product. However, if you get to save money it is definitely worth the wait!  

Delaying your purchase and doing your research can save you a lot of money and time when it comes to your beauty needs. Trying out new products and purchasing my fav products are always on my mind. Playing it smart, allows you to spend more where it counts!
